Description
Foothills Medical Centre’s Unit 47 is a newly established 29-bed acute care unit specializing in general and internal medicine, with additional seasonal capacity beds. This fast-paced and evolving unit offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment. As the Unit Clerk, you will provide essential administrative and support services, working closely with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and families. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy clinical setting. Effective communication and teamwork are key, along with a commitment to supporting patient-centered care and continuous improvement.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
At least 6 months’ experience (within the last year) in a Unit Clerk position in an acute, medical inpatient unit is required. Experience with Inpatient Connect Care is required. Experience with INFOR WFM required. Experience with MS Word and Excel required. Fluent in English and working knowledge of medical terminology is required. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize. Must be able to cope with frequent interruptions and work under pressure within a stressful, demanding and rapidly changing environment.
