The successful candidate is responsible for performing clerical tasks and managing patient information supporting patient care activities in a fast-paced Ambulatory Care clinics. Support is provided for a variety of clinics in the Ambulatory Care portfolio. The clerk acts as a central source of information relating to patient activities including patient admissions, Alberta NetCare information, booking appointments, use of connect care to schedule appointments and complete referral work, diagnostic tests, and obtaining patient lists. This position requires considerable telephone communication with patients, physician's offices and other members of the health care team. Provides clerical support including payroll entry, filing, typing, and maintaining supplies and referral management.

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Minimum completion of Grade 12 required Completion of the Unit Clerk course (with practicum) required Previous computer experience with Connect Care, Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, Alberta Netcare is required. Familiarity with medical terminology is required A minimum of two years recent experience in a clinical setting is required Health care provider-CPR through Heart and Stroke Foundation is required Experience managing complex referrals within connect care is required. Incorporates the Royal Alex Way in everyday practice is required. Strong communication skills with an ability to react rapidly to increases in workload and prioritize tasks accordingly are required. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and a courteous and pleasant telephone etiquette is required
