Description
Working under the general supervision of a Manager, the Unit Clerk will act as the center of communication for a mental health inpatient unit and will be providing clerical and organizational support to staff and physicians. The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but not limited to, reception, chart preparation and maintenance, processing orders, ordering and maintaining office supplies and data entry. This individual will handle all information in a confidential manner. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
An understanding and Sensitivity to confidential nature of information received and communicated required. Ability to take directions and to work independently under general supervision required. Strong computer skills essential. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum 1-2 years Unit Clerk experience in Addiction and Mental Health preferred. Proficiency with Connect Care preferred.
