The Pediatric Unit cares for patients up to 18 years of age, with medical, surgical and psychiatric illnesses. In addition to in-patients, the unit cares for Pediatric Day Surgery and Pediatric Ambulatory Care patients. As a member of the PEDS team, the unit clerk will provide support to the unit in various ways including greeting families, patients and visitors as they come in for admission, outpatient procedures or day surgery. They are responsible to book patients in for outpatient appointments and to track referrals as patients are discharged out into the community. The unit clerk assists the unit manager with payroll & other administrative duties as required. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Previous experience as a Unit Clerk.
