This position is suitable for an individual who has a passion for providing patient- and family-centered care. Cold Lake is located on Alberta’s seventh largest lake, offering both indoor and outdoor recreational activities which are bound to keep you busy during any season! We are a populous city of over 20,000 and home to Canada’s busiest fighter base, 4 Wing Air Force Base. We boast multiple busy industries including tourism, oil and gas and agriculture.

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal and written means in a professional and mature manner. Demonstrated ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and families and engage them in their care. Ability to prioritize work and effectively cope with frequent interruptions, noise, and other nearby distractions. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills - knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications and basic typing. Ability to work as a team member and to request and accept direction as required.
