Description
If you are an Undergraduate Nurse (UNE) who likes small town living, this position in Stettler might be for you. Home care has transformed into a fast paced, dynamic environment which will have your days filled with different health related concerns, activities and tasks i.e. palliative therapies, home parenteral therapy, wound care and much more. One day will not be the same as the one before or the one after. Working in home care will give you a different perspective and approach to providing client care. You will report to the Home Care Manager and will be responsible for coordinating and providing quality care to clients in the community. You will provide nursing assessment, case coordination and direct care in partnership with clients and their families in their own residence or an alternate care setting, as determined by the assessment. Stettler is located in the “Heart of Alberta”, just 179km southeast of Edmonton and 101km east of Red Deer. It serves as a regional hub with a main trading area involving over 11, 000 people. The town has a wide assortment of community facilities including an elementary/junior high school, a composite high school, a library, twin arenas, an aquatic centre, a performing arts theatre, and much more. The area also has a few golf courses and is close to Buffalo Lake.
The Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) position provides an opportunity for the nursing student employed as a UNE to consolidate the knowledge and skill acquired in their approved nursing education program towards competency in the range and complexity of Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) practice. The UNE is an unregulated member of the collaborative health care team who provides patient centred care with the supervision of the RN or RPN. The nursing activities performed, and level of supervision required are determined by legislation, standards of supervision outlined by regulatory colleges, Alberta Health Services (AHS) policy, educational preparation, practice setting, complexity of the patient, level of risk involved, and competency of the UNE.
