Description
This position is in the town of Rimbey, a great central location with a small-town friendly feel, located less than 2 hrs from Edmonton, Calgary & Red Deer. Our community is nestled in the scenic Blindman River Valley amongst the rolling hills bordering the Rocky Mountains. Rimbey is the ideal area for fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, hiking, boating and boasts many parks. Amenities include a Library, Agricultural Centre, A Community Recreation Centre complete with Gym, Arena, and Curling club, Ball Diamonds, Lions Campground with walking trails, Soccer Fields, Playgrounds, and Outdoor Skating rinks. Gull Lake is 20 minutes from town and boasts a recreational beach with day use and playground, Marina, and a 9/18-Hole Golf Course and Club. As a Therapy Assistant you will perform safe and effective patient treatment interventions for individuals under the direction of the Physiotherapist in multiple service streams including Long Term Care, Acute Care. You may be involved in assisting in various interventions including exercise and mobility programs, provision of mobility aids, ADL training, therapeutic transfers, equipment maintenance and inspection. Other duties include scheduling appointments, equipment ordering and provision, inventory cleaning and maintenance, ordering supplies, and preparing treatment areas. This position will consist of primarily physical therapy interventions, although some occupational therapy duties are also required.
As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.
Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Discipline specific training in Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy.
