This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, focusing on providing quality patient care at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre (Long Term Care setting). Nestled near the Porcupine Hills, Claresholm is a small, tight knit community close to many outdoor activities including fishing, hiking, and camping. Come join our Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre- Long term care team in the recreation department, as a casual Recreation Aide! Under the direction of the Recreation Therapist and under the general supervision of the Site Manager, the casual Recreation Aide works to enrich the lives of the residents in long term care by providing the support and assistance implementing recreation activities. As a Therapy Aide, you will be working both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team where you will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. Your role may include administrative duties such as ordering supplies, booking clients, tracking attendances, equipment inventory and preparing/cleaning the treatment area. Under the direction of a supervising recreation therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, audiologist, or speech language pathologist, you will prepare and/or apply routine interventions, promote patient (client, resident) healthy living, self-care independence and motivate clients to actively participate in assigned therapy protocols or programs. You may assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning, and basic activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) within the context of the therapy program.

Completion of Grade 12.

English proficiency-written, oral, and comprehension. Experience in facilitating recreation programs. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with patients/clients/residents, families, visitors and team members. Well-developed time management, organizational, and prioritization skills. Ability to handle the physical demands of the position.

Current CPR (BLS-HCP) certification. Volunteer experience. Continuing Care setting (supportive living, long term care) experience considered an asset. Current dementia care certification (i.e. CRADLE+, Supportive Pathways). NVCI certification. Education specific to therapeutic recreation preferred.
