Description
The Team Lead - Family Medicine Enhanced Skills Programs and Learner Scheduling is a new leadership role within the Family Medicine Education Portfolio in the Department of Family Medicine. Reporting to the Education Manager, this position oversees the management of 10 Enhanced Skills residency programs and learner scheduling for the Core Program, Enhanced Skills Programs, and electives. These programs are complex and distributed, serving approximately 25 Enhanced Skills residents, 170 Core Program residents, and 190 clerkship students annually, with anticipated growth through 2030. This role will work closely in collaboration with the Rural, Central and Undergraduate/Faculty Development Team Leads. Your strong leadership abilities, combined with expertise in project management, change management, and quality improvement, will ensure efficient delivery of programs. You are skilled and proficient at process creation and improvement. You are skilled at creating and promotion a positive team-based work environment. You will manage a team of six administrative staff, provide operational oversight, and ensure alignment with organizational policies and accreditation standards. This role requires balancing competing priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and fostering collaborative relationships with physician leaders, faculty, staff and partners across Alberta Health Services, Primary Care Alberta, and the University of Calgary. This position will be part of Primary Care Alberta effective November 18, 2024. The successful candidate will lead and manage the Family Medicine Enhanced Skills residency programs and learner scheduling for multiple programs within the Department of Family Medicine. Responsibilities include overseeing program logistics, CaRMS, learner assessment, and scheduling for multiple programs, learner types and locations across southern Alberta. You will ensure compliance with accreditation standards, support staff and faculty development initiatives, and contribute to strategic planning and quality improvement projects. This role includes financial monitoring of program budgets, HR management for a team of six, and active participation in key committees. The Team Lead will lead communication strategies, marketing initiatives for Enhanced Skills programs, and relationship-building with physician leaders and education partners. Occasional travel within Calgary and to external events may be required. Calgary and to external events may be required.
Bachelor’s degree in business, health, or public administration (or equivalent experience). Project Management experience (certificate/diploma preferred). 3-5 years in a management role within a large, complex organization. Experience managing in a unionized environment and monitoring budgets. Experience in process documentation and improvement. Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Intermediate /advanced level in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experienced communicator with excellent verbal, non-verbal and written skills. Strong organizational skills, and a commitment to providing quality work.

Master’s degree in administration, Education or Human Resources. Effective negotiating skills. Advanced expertise in project management and quality improvement. Strong leadership and strategic planning. Proven ability to build collaborative relationships. Project Management experience (certificate/diploma preferred).
