We have an exciting leadership position available in Peace River, Alberta. The Patient Food Services Supervisor is responsible for several sites which requires travelling to each location in accordance with a preset schedule for the work week. Your key responsibilities include Human Resource Management, Operation Leadership, Communication and Engagement, as well as Quality Improvement and Workplace Health and Safety. As the patient meal service expert on site, you oversee the daily operations and resolve any issues or concerns that may arise. In addition to overseeing staff schedules, overtime approvals, and food and supply purchases, this key role is also responsible for revenue services (cafeterias/catering) at each of the sites and is accountable for managing the operating budget up to $2.1 million. On occasions where there may be an emergency or unforeseen circumstance, the Supervisor may be required to fill in as necessary to assist front line staff. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
This leadership position is responsible for ensuring that the sites comply with approved provincial standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate provides leadership through effective communication, ethical decision-making, and commitment to achieving established goals and objectives, ensuring outcome measurements and standards are enforced. Responsibilities include but are not limited to staff scheduling, maintenance of job routines, payroll documentation and approval, recruitment, training, performance, ability management, and investigates and responds to patient, customer, client, and stakeholder concerns. The incumbent reviews and oversees expenses within an established budget and identify and follows up on variances. In addition to making recommendations regarding funding to meet changes to staff and/or supplies needs, this position is involved in the purchase of minor and capital equipment. The Supervisor works with their manager to prepare the annual budget and monitors operational expenses throughout the year. Other duties as required.
Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Nutrition and Food Service Management or Food & Beverage Management. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a Food Services management role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Proven organizational, time-management, and decision-making skills, and a demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development are required. The successful candidate will also possess leadership experience in a food service-based industry involving hiring, scheduling, and directing work of assigned employees. Proficiency with use of Microsoft Office, including word processing, spreadsheet programs and email is also required for this position

Healthcare and supervisory experience in a unionized working environment is preferred. ORACLE, e-People, Connect Care and Sysco experience a strong asset. Combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
