Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled EMS Supervisor to oversee daily operational management in the field, including pre-hospital care, patient transfer services, and special operations. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-stakes environments and is passionate about promoting excellence in service delivery and patient care. As an EMS Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning, allocating, and managing both physical and human resources, ensuring we meet the greatest needs in service delivery. You will play a key role in fostering innovative practices, driving quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regional and provincial objectives. Additionally, this role requires a commitment to staff safety, performance management, and effective communication. You will be responsible for mitigating work-related incidents, promoting continuous development, and ensuring our staff has the tools and information to provide exceptional patient care.
This operational position will be based out of the Red Deer area and is focused on patient and EMS flow in the Red Deer Regional Health Center Emergency Department. Operational Field Management: Oversee the daily operations of pre-hospital care, patient transfer services, and special operations to ensure effective and timely service delivery. Resource Management: Plan, allocate, and manage both physical and human resources, assessing requirements to meet service needs and enhance operational efficiency. Quality Improvement: Promote and implement innovative practices aimed at improving service delivery, consistent with regional and provincial objectives for excellence in EMS operations. Staff Safety and Performance: Monitor staff safety, develop, and implement mitigation strategies for work-related lost time events. Ensure staff performance aligns with established standards and protocols, supporting optimal patient care. Communication: Ensure clear and consistent communication with staff on corporate, departmental, and branch operations, ensuring they are well-informed and equipped to safely perform tasks. Performance Management: Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to ensure staff adherence to medical protocols, policies, and procedures, maintaining high standards of care and service delivery.
Graduate of an Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) approved program and registered with The Alberta College of Paramedics, and a member in good standing. A Minimum of 5 years in an Emergency Service role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Valid Alberta Class 4 Operators license with no more than 6 demerits.
Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. A clear pattern of professional and personal development.
An undergraduate or graduate degree in management, health care administration, business or leadership is preferred. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
