Description
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Strategist is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating strategic initiatives that support the operational, clinical standards, and organizational priorities of Emergency Health Services (EHS). The position provides leadership in strategic planning, patient safety, system analysis, performance measurement, quality improvement, stakeholder engagement, change management, and evidence-informed decision-making. This posting will be used to hire 2 strategists.
The Strategist works collaboratively with operational leaders, clinical leaders, physicians, provincial partners, government stakeholders, zone leadership, and supports service departments to develop and implement strategies that improve patient outcomes, ensure quality assurance, workforce sustainability, service delivery, organizational performance, and system integration across the continuum of emergency and out-of-hospital care. Through research, analysis, and performance monitoring, the Strategist translates data and evidence into actionable recommendations that support EHS strategic priorities and organizational objectives. This role serves as a key resource for major transformation initiatives and supports a culture of continuous improvement throughout the provincial EMS system.
Undergraduate degree in: Health Administration. Business Administration. Public Administration. Health Sciences. Organizational Leadership. Related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Strategic Thinking - Systems thinking, Environmental scanning, long range planning, innovation. Analytical Excellence - Data Interpretation, Critical Thinking, Problem solving, Evaluation methodologies. Relationship building - Stakeholder engagement, collaboration, facilitation, influence without authority. Project Leadership - Project Management, Change Management, Risk Management, Implementation planning. Communication - Executive level writing, Presentation development, consensus building.
Master's degree in a related field. Practical experience in strategy, policy/protocol development, experience in program and project management is an asset.
