Speech Language Pathologist I

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you'll provide services to clients of all ages in a variety of clinical settings in a rural environment. You'll work independently & as part of an interdisciplinary team, responsible for providing assessment & intervention services in acute care, long term care & outpatients. This full-time permanent position is based out of the Northwest Health Centre in High Level, Alberta and is part of a Speech team providing Speech Language services in the communities of High Level, La Crete & Fort Vermilion. High Level is located in the scenic northwestern reaches of Alberta. Residents enjoy a wide range of indoor & outdoor recreational activities including fishing, golfing, hockey, hunting, camping & swimming. With a population of approx. 3,900 and serving a trade area of 26,000, High Level offers a bustling economy with the local service area committed to ensuring their residents have access to optimal healthcare. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable & is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Permanent & temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta & cannot be carried over. A relocation allowance based on location is also available to successful candidates.

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).
