The Service Worker I will report to the Clinic Manager of Adult Day Medicine (ADM) and Medical Outpatient (MOU) unit. The successful incumbent will be required to work at both locations- Adult Day Medicine (ADM) located at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic and Medical Outpatient Unit (MOU) located at the Walter Mackenzie Health Center. Ambulating between sites daily will be a requirement. Service Worker I, in collaboration with the health care team, is responsible for maintaining a hygienic, well-equipped, and safe patient care environment. Duties include but are not limited to the following activities: taking inventory, ordering, receiving, dispersing, and rotating medical/surgical supplies. Responding to requests for delivery of lab samples, equipment, supplies, and medications as needed. Cleaning patient care areas, isolation rooms, disinfecting equipment, removing soiled linen and garbage, replenishing linen supplies, addressing concerns of patients in the clinic area, and transporting or escorting patients in wheelchairs and stretchers.

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) is required. Basic computer knowledge and skills are required as supplies and requests for maintenance are ordered by computer. Recent within 2 years' service worker experience is required. Lifting, pulling, and pushing more than 20 pounds is required frequently. Required to stand and walk constantly. Must be able to transport adult patients independently.

Knowledge and experience with AHS policies and practices in Hand Hygiene, Personal Protective Equipment, Linen and Laundry handling, Waste Management, Oxygen cylinder storage and handling, and approved cleaning practices and responsibilities is preferred.
