With the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital now open, we are excited to be expanding services within urology, orthopedics, ENT, general surgery, gynecology and ophthalmology, with the addition of bariatric and oncoplastic to support Grande Prairie Cancer Centre. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Evidence of: strong interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, flexibility, dependability in organizing and carrying out duties, thoroughness and attention to detail. Evidence of pleasant manner in relationships with patients, physicians, staff and public. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and organize workload within a dynamic work environment. Ability to handle heavy or awkward items (lifting, transferring, carrying), and withstand considerable walking or standing. Preference in hiring will be given to applicants with recent Service Worker I experience working in the OR followed by those with Service Worker experience or experience working in an OR.

Ability to remain calm while dealing with competing, time-sensitive priorities. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient information and health records. Ability to identify own strengths and weaknesses and showing initiative for improvement. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others and accept change.
