Acute Care Alberta is in search of two (2) Senior Financial Analysts (SFA) for their Revenue team. These eighteen-month (18) temporary, full-time positions are eligible for remote work from home. Applicants from across the province are welcome. Under the limited supervision and direction of the Program Manager, Finance - Revenue, the SFA will support delivering restricted funds management, revenue accounting and reporting services to various provincial health agencies and provincial health corporations, while ensuring restricted funds are effectively managed and revenues are properly accounted for in accordance with applicable standards, policies and procedures. You will also coordinate and/or prepare complex financial analysis and reports, along with providing interpretation of analyses and reports to support business and external requirements. As an SFA, you will review funding proposals and agreements, collaborate with funding recipients and other stakeholders to resolve grant-related issues, monitor deferred revenue balances and expiring grants, and interpret and provide guidance to operational and Finance staff on applicable policies and procedures. You will prepare complex financial reports on restricted funds and revenues, prepare variance analyses, reconcile general ledger accounts and restricted funding receipts, complete month-end close procedures such as preparation of journal entries, coordinate or lead various year-end tasks and requirements, and support internal and external audit requests. There are 2 positions available.

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will coordinate and/or prepare complex financial and statistical analysis and reports, along with providing interpretation of analyses and reports to support business and external requirements. Your work will be focused on budgets, forecasting, recommendations for program and/or cost efficiencies and development or enhancements to processes and controls. In addition, you will coordinate and monitor progress of financial projects, as well as coach and guide other department staff such as Financial Analysts.

Post secondary degree specializing in accounting or related field (e.g. economics, statistics).

The successful candidate has a minimum of five years of progressive financial experience. They have strong analytical skills and demonstrate a high level of initiative, sound judgment, and strong decision-making skills. Proven ability to work with minimum supervision and within tight deadlines is essential. Strong communication and presentation skills, along with an ability to function within a collaborative environment is required. The successful candidates possess advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel, database applications and financial systems within a large organization. Additionally, they possess knowledgeable of public sector accounting principles and ideally are pursuing a professional accounting designation. This position will be part of Acute Care Alberta effective April 1, 2025. Chartered Professional Accounting designation is preferred. Experience with health care and Oracle applications would be an asset.
