Description
Under the general direction of ACH Respiratory Therapy manager, this Respiratory Therapist III - supervisory position requires an expert clinician, highly self-motivated and organized individual with progressive ideas and energetic leadership qualities. As the Clinical Supervisor you will be responsible for fostering, facilitating and achieving the highest standards of evidence based and patient centered care in accordance with the philosophy of AHS. As the Clinical Supervisor you will provide clinical expertise, leadership, mentorship, and the enhancement of respiratory therapy care in the designated clinical areas including NICU, PICU, ED, Inpatient units as well as specialty and leadership teams. In addition to the diagnostic and therapeutic care duties of a Respiratory Therapist I and II, this position is responsible for the day-to-day respiratory services daily staffing level, operation of the respiratory therapists working in designated areas in an environment with frequently changing clinical priorities. You will act as a consistent liaison and resource for staff, physicians, multidisciplinary stakeholders and students in the designated clinical areas as well as the affiliated educational programs in the Calgary zone of AHS. You will be expected to support strategic decision making with experience in change management, project management and quality improvement as well as experience and expertise in constructive conversations with colleagues and staff. You will be expected to have excellent computers skills, and show effective department, multidisciplinary and system communication verbally and written. The successful candidate should be proactive in maintaining their own professional development as well as seeking feedback for their performance while promoting a culture of “leading by example.”
As a Respiratory Therapist III - Clinical Practice Lead, you will be responsible for mentoring, promoting standards of practice, responding to clinical questions, and coordinating ongoing skill and student development within your team. You will collaborate with managers and supervisors in the provision and access to internal and external continuing education and professional development programs including certifications and upgrades.
Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Current BCLS-HCP. Minimum 5 years RRT tertiary Critical care experience in a variety of clinical areas
Relevant Undergraduate degree or leadership/education certificate. Minimum 3 years Pediatric Critical Care experience in a tertiary care setting within the last 5 years. ACH Critical Care Experience. Level III NICU experience. Current PALS. Current NRP. Rapid Response, Transport Team and/or ECLS Experience. Change Management or AIW training. Asset or equivalent Sim facilitation training Membership and commitment to a multidisciplinary committee within the last 2 years.
