Description
As the Maternal Child Lead RT III for Respiratory Therapy in Red Deer Regional Hospital, you will be a clinical practitioner who provides leadership, clinical/technical and educational support and routine/preventative maintenance of respiratory related equipment for the RDRHC Maternal/Child Care Department, and excellence in respiratory care in the Maternal Child units at the RDRHC. This position also works and provides leadership as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide patient care and assistance to various areas in the RDRHC. You will be responsible for direct patient care and will also have the opportunity to mentor, teach and interact with residents, students, and new staff. The Respiratory Therapist III Maternal/Child Lead is responsible for therapeutic and educational respiratory health services to all Mat/Child patient areas within Red Deer Regional Hospital in accordance with developed and approved treatment protocols, guidance documents and procedures.
As a Respiratory Therapist III - Clinical Practice Lead, you will be responsible for mentoring, promoting standards of practice, responding to clinical questions, and coordinating ongoing skill and student development within your team. You will collaborate with managers and supervisors in the provision and access to internal and external continuing education and professional development programs including certifications and upgrades.
Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Minimum of 5 years of 0.5 FTE or greater experience as an RRT within the last 5 years, in an acute care facility. Experience in the last 2 years in a Level II or III NICU with an ability to demonstrate competence with neonatal intubation and case room management. Experience working in an obstetrical operating room. Current NRP. Current BLS-HCP Certification. The following physical requirements: Being on one’s feet for extended periods of time (walking and standing). Transporting, lifting and positioning of patients. Able to bend, lift, push and pull equipment. Exposure to infectious diseases, and hazardous situations for which they are trained. Prior leadership experience and/or leadership training courses. Current PALS/ACLS. Current NRP/BLS/ACLS/PALS instructor certification. Current Adult/pediatric intubation and arterial line insertion certifications. Prior involvement with quality improvement initiatives or other committee work. Demonstrated ability with interpersonal skills and conflict management. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and problem solve. Current orientation to RDRHC. Formal Preceptor Training Courses.
