Why Medicine Hat Regional Hospital? 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/Coronary Care Unit (CCU), busy Emergency Department, active LDR and Level II NICU, active Operating Rooms with Anesthetic Care Team (ACT) model, medical and surgical inpatient units, Ambulatory Care services including Cardiac Stress Testing, PFT, Spirometry testing, ABGs, Asthma & COPD Education. As a Respiratory Therapist I, you’ll practice to full scope, working alongside an interdisciplinary team to diagnose and manage patients of all ages with cardiopulmonary and related disorders. As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.
Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Current Basic Life Support - Health Care Provider certification. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Ability to work 11.08-hour day/night rotations. Flexibility to work in all hospital areas, including NICU, Pediatrics, Labor & Delivery, PACU, Wards, ED, Ambulatory RT, and ICU.
PALS and ACLS certifications. Recent acute and critical care experience within the past 5 years. Formal mentorship and preceptorship training and Connect Care experience are assets.
