Respiratory Therapists at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge (CRH) provide care to residents of sunny Southern Alberta and Southeastern British Columbia. The Chinook Regional Hospital houses a 20 bed ICU, a 16 bed level 2+ NICU, an 11 bed Pediatric unit, a level 3 trauma center and an active OR, in addition to multiple medical and surgical inpatient units. As a Respiratory Therapist I at CRH, you will work to full scope of practice providing respiratory care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to assist in the diagnosis and management of patients of all ages with cardiopulmonary and related disorders. You will actively participate in the education of patients, students, staff and physicians; contribute to department and/or service area process improvement; maintain a professional and accountable practice; advocate professionally and effectively for patients using the principles of patient and family-centered care and provide technical support for all Respiratory Therapy equipment. Respiratory Therapists at Chinook Regional Hospital are expected to cover all areas that they have been orientated to and that Respiratory Services clinically supports, if required. A demonstrated pattern of professional development; display of interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills; ability to manage competing priorities, be self-directed, exercise independent decision-making and effectively resolve conflict; and promotion of a healthy, respectful, and safe work environment are required.

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Basic Life Support - Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP). Recent Critical Care experience (within past 5 years).

Relevant degree. 2 or more years of Critical Care Respiratory Therapy experience in the past 5 years. Neonatal invasive and non-invasive ventilation experience in past 5 years. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification. Current PALS certification. Current ACLS certification. Competency in Arterial line insertion. Competency in Adult intubation. Experience with Connect Care/ Epic documentation system.
