This is a permanent full-time Respiratory Therapist I position based out of the Northwest Health Centre in High Level and is responsible for the Respiratory Therapy program in the communities of High Level, La Crete and Fort Vermilion. It is an opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings with clients of all ages in a rural environment. This includes working with a multidisciplinary team in acute care, long term care and outpatient settings. The town of High Level is located in the scenic northwestern reaches of Alberta. Residents enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreational activities including fishing, golfing, hockey, hunting, camping and swimming, just to name a few. With a population of approximately 3,900 and serving a trade area of 26,000, High Level offers a bustling economy with the local service area committed to ensuring their residents have access to optimal healthcare. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over. A relocation allowance based on location is also available to successful candidates.

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
