Description
As a member of the interdisciplinary team on Unit 3C at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, the Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) provides safe, patient centered care on a 22 bed Older Adult/Geriatric Psychiatry Rehabilitation Inpatient Unit. Current nursing process and skills are applied to achieve excellence in mood disorders, thought disorders, dementia care. Guided by best practice and AHS policies, the nurse will provide patient and family centered care. He/she/they will ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care by collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and other programs and services. The nurse will provide leadership to the team and support staff orientation and student learning experiences. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Psychiatric Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(a)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Experience working in Mental Health (Geriatric/Adult Psychiatry) required. Strong assessment skills required to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient behaviour. Ability to recognize and assess patients in mental health crisis. Experience in suicide risk assessment, harm reduction, de-escalation techniques, behavioural safety plans required. Excellent leadership and time management skills. Strong communication skills that enhance team functioning.
Connect Care training. Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training preferred. I.V. certification and current Alaris pump training preferred. SPRAM Modules.
