This is an exciting opportunity to join the first rPACT (Alberta Regional Police and Crisis Teams) program in Drumheller and area. Working out of the Drumheller RCMP detachment and being partnered with an RCMP officer. Under the direction of the Rural Southeast Central Addiction & Mental Health Manager and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the mental health nurse is responsible for providing specialized mental health assessment and consultation services. The nurse will work in tandem with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to respond in Drumheller and a large surrounding area to situations of mental health crisis where the individual requires police and crisis team support. The team will attend to community crises that involve individuals presenting with public safety concerns, mental health and addiction issues. rPACT nurses must be able to provide service to the hard to serve population who suffer from severe mental illness and face multiple problems in the community, Good interpersonal skills, flexibility, and an ability to work independently are essential. A good working knowledge of community agencies and programs is an asset. A high degree of professionalism is required to perform mental health interventions in an outreach context. An RCMP security check will be required of the successful candidate.

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
