We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Outpatients Department as a member of the Advanced Vascular Access Team. This role offers the opportunity to practice at an advanced level while supporting high-quality, patient-centered care across a diverse outpatient setting. In this position, you will assess referrals for PICC suitability, perform comprehensive vascular assessments, and insert peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) using strict sterile technique. Your experience with ECG interpretation will enable accurate bedside confirmation of PICC placement through real-time cardiac signal analysis. You will also contribute leadership within the Outpatients Department by supporting nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will deliver clear, timely, and accurate clinical documentation and patient education. Your adaptability and critical-thinking skills will allow you to respond effectively to the changing demands of a fast-paced outpatient environment. This role provides exposure to a range of specialty clinics, supporting surgeons and delivering coordinated, patient-focused care. Your expertise in intravenous catheter insertion, maintenance, and IV therapy administration will support patient wellness across the outpatient setting. You will monitor patients for infusion-related reactions and initiate prompt interventions during emergent situations. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. A minimum of 2 years surgical experience within the last 5 years. Relevant experience that demonstrates autonomous practice, such as recent experience (within the last 5 years) in outpatient, clinic, ambulatory care environment or IV therapy setting. Clinical proficiency in sterile technique as evidenced by previous experience in an Operating room, Minor operating room or Perioperative nursing certificate. IV management and initiation certifications. CVAD certification. CVAD occlusion management certification. Anaphylaxis management certification. Transfusion of Blood components and products certification.

Vascular access expertise including advanced knowledge in central line care and aseptic technique. Exceptional clinical and diagnostic reasoning. Effective communication skills with patients, families, the public, medical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Experience in patient teaching and education. Strong organizational and prioritizing skills. Experience in phlebotomy, POCT-urine pregnancy and glucose meter. CVAA certification.
