Description
Please note that this Registered Nurse position works in the surgical suite (OR). Under limited supervision of the OR Manager and Charge Nurse: Assumes responsibility and accountability for the management of patient care as outlined by AHS policies, professional association standards and ORNAC standards. Will competently and effectively be able to assume the role of team leader or charge nurse.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Ability to communicate effectively and adapt communication style to meet the needs of patients/clients and to communicate with physicians in a concise and accurate manner. Reliable and dependable. Assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to patient/client change in status. Proven ability to anticipate and respond to critical situations. Work effectively in a team environment. Balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities. Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication. Demonstrated ability in the use of principles of time management and effective problem solving. Demonstrated skills in conflict management. Proven technical and clinical skill in scrub and circulating role. Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve the immediate complications of anesthesia. Flexibility to function in multiple perioperative situations. Proven ability to mentor/precept new staff members.
3 years recent surgical suite (OR) experience. Certification of perioperative course. Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Teaching and mentoring skills desired. Basic computer skills including connect care an asset.
