Description
Pincher Creek has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse in the Acute Care, Emergency, and Operating Room areas in a temporary part time benefit eligible employee position. The Pincher Creek Health Care Centre has 16 acute care beds, two operating rooms, emergency room. As well the Centre includes home care services, diagnostic imaging, Radiology Associates, laboratory services, Allied Health services, acute and ambulatory care, and public health nursing. This environment is suitable for a Registered Nurse who has recent emergency and operating room nursing experience as well as medical/surgical and maternity nursing experience. The Town of Pincher Creek is a well-established community located at the edge of southern Alberta. Nestled near the mountains, Castle Mountain is a short drive away and Waterton Lakes National Park is also just a quick jaunt for all outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy. With a variety of winter and summer activities and a diversity of amenities and tourist attractions, Pincher Creek embodies the benefits of balancing work with life. Of course, if you need some time in the city, Lethbridge is just an hour’s drive away and Great Falls, Montana is only four hours for a weekend of shopping in the states.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Recent Nursing experience in Acute Care, Emergency Room, Operating Room, Cardiac Stress Testing and Endoscopy required as expected to work in these areas on a scheduled basis. Post-grad Operating Room ORNAC course or equivalent required. Current experience with Wound Care, dressing changes, tube feeds, TPN, IV Insertion, PICC lines, wound and skin care required. Recent experience in Acute Care Nursing, Women’s Health, and/or Labour and Delivery.
Defibrillation, IV, NRP and ACLS certifications preferred. If not completed prior to hire, can be completed within 3 months of hire through in-service education. Labour / Delivery experience and associated certifications preferred. Management of sterile supplies experience preferred.
