Working in the Ambulatory Care - Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Program (PMDP), the Registered Nurse (RN) will work collaboratively within an inter-disciplinary team, primary care networks, community agencies and key stakeholders to further develop, explore and implement strategies to address PMDP management with a particular emphasis on Duodopa patient care. Self-motivated and results orientated, the RN possesses expertise and competence in clinical practice, leadership, counseling, and education relative to the management of Parkinson's and Movement Disorders. You will work collaboratively across the province and Canada with other Duodopa clinics. When not undertaking Duodopa clinics you will provide support within the PMDP clinics as required. This position requires an advanced expertise and knowledge to ensure the provision of safe and timely care to patients withing the Parkinson and Movement Disorder program (PMDP), a worldwide recognized Center of Excellence. Encompassing all duties and responsibilities expected of a RN to support the following types of patients: General PMDP, Duodopa, Huntington's, Dystonia and Deep Brain Stimulation.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

A Minimum of 2 years (within the last 5 years) regularly scheduled inpatient or outpatient work as a RN in the specialty of Neurosciences. Recent experience working with Parkinsons and Movement Disorders. Experience with strong collaborative skills and the ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team setting displaying flexibility and excellent communication skills. Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment as leader as well as a team player. Ability to communicate finding in a concise and accurate manner. Strong problem solving skills including technical and ability to work with novel technologies. Must have the ability to push, pull, and lift equipment of up to 30 lbs. must be able to participate in patient assessments, moving and handling, transferring patients, walking and standing. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods and be competent with computer skills. Must have experience with Connect Care and be BLS Certified.

Preference will be given to those applicants who have advanced therapies skills in movement disorders. Preferred experience with care of Duodopa patients and administration of this medication. Experience of Case Management an asset.
