Registered Nurse (RN) positions at Strathmore Hospital work on the acute care unit in an environment that will challenge the ability to balance varying patient acuity levels and priorities. You will participate in the provision of health care to patients in acute care which includes medical/surgical full lifespan and palliative care patients. The RN role is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient in Acute Care. Must be able to work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team, have the ability to assess, coordinate, supervise, administer, and evaluate provision of health services and health care resources. Demonstration of current nursing knowledge along with efficient, communication and leadership skills are required. You will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients and families in a diverse population, focusing on an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will accept responsibility for continuing competences through ongoing professional development, including participation in education and orientation and continuous quality improvement activities. You will follow nursing standards/protocols as required. You are aware that the RN position requires physical demands including lifting, pulling, pushing, walking, standing, transferring and transporting patients and equipment up to a frequent basis. A high level of physical effort is required related to clinical caseload, a RN may be required to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. ACLS is required, or to be obtained within 6 months of hiring. Current nursing experience. Excellent computer skills.
