Description
The Quality Management Coordinator (QMC) Nurse/Instructor is a unique position specific to the Clinical Research Unit (CRU). This position will play a key role in operationalizing the Early Phase Clinical Trials Program (EPCTP) using adult learning principles. The position develops, and delivers educational support for orientation, clinical competencies, organizational and clinical trials specific standards/practices and guidelines and changes in AHS nursing policies. The position will also develop early phase trial specific procedures and tools, to ensure adherence to the clinical trial protocol, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Health Canada and all applicable clinical trial regulations for the nursing staff supporting the EPCTP and existing trials within CRU. This position will function as a pillar and resource to the staff supporting clinical trials, including all stakeholders supporting the CRU, including ambulatory, systemic and inpatient units, etc. The QMC Nurse/Instructor will collaborate with the CRU leadership team in quality improvement strategies and facilitate appropriate educational activities and process changes to help improve patient experience. The QMC Nurse/Instructor collaborates with the health care team at the unit, department, site, zone, and provincial level as necessary.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Experience in Oncology and/or clinical research nursing. Minimum of 5 years (full time equivalent {FTE}) recent acute or ambulatory oncology nursing experience required. Two years recent clinical trials experience required. CITI & N2 Clinical Trials Training completion. Chemotherapy certified, ECG certified, Phlebotomy trained. Able to meet the physical demands of the job, such as overhead reaching and bending. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills. Be self-directed and exercise independent decision making, sound nursing judgment and critical thinking skills. Exhibit strong time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic environment. Demonstrated ability to manage change and adapt to changing workflows. Demonstrate a commitment to and participation in professional growth. Advanced proficiency in keyboarding skills, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Connect Care, and Netcare. Experience working in Early Phase clinical trials.
At least 2 years of Experience in Leadership within the last 5 years, demonstrating progressive responsibility and project management. At least 1 year of experience in a Quality and Regulatory Coordination role. Change Management certification (PROSCI, AIW). Experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation. Experience working with Data Metrics and dashboard development experience.
