Description
Child Development Services (CDS) at Alberta Children’s Hospital is seeking a Psychometrist to support children and adolescents across our diagnostic and consultative programs, including the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Diagnostic Clinic, Consultative Diagnostic Services, and Cumulative Risk Diagnostic Clinic. In this role, you will administer standardized cognitive, developmental, and achievement tests; collect behavioural and socio-emotional data; score protocols; distribute digital questionnaires; and draft sections of psychology reports, including background information and behavioural observations. You will collaborate closely with psychologists and other multidisciplinary team members, contributing to family-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive assessments. Your work ensures accurate, high-quality data to inform diagnoses, intervention planning, and recommendations for children and families. The ideal candidate has experience testing preschool and school-aged children and adolescents using tools such as the Wechsler series, Stanford Binet, and measures of attention, memory, and executive functioning. Familiarity with digital scoring and reporting platforms is essential. Experience working with neurodivergent children with attention, intellectual, and/or behavioral challenges is an asset. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent verbal and written communication are critical. As a Psychometrist, you will provide services related to psychological assessment, working under the direction of the responsible psychologist(s). You will meet with patients and administer and score a variety of psychological tests, and record behavioural observations. Your information and results are provided to effectively support the psychologist(s) responsible for interpreting assessment data and any related clinical decision making or recommendations. You may also provide support to psychologists in their research and or evaluation activities.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Psychology from an accredited university.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience administering standardized assessments with children and adolescents across cognitive, developmental, achievement, and socio-emotional domains. Proficiency in administering and scoring a range of standardized tests, including the Wechsler series, Stanford Binet, and measures of attention, memory, and executive functioning. Demonstrated ability to accurately collect and record assessment data, complete scoring, and prepare report sections such as background information and behavioral observations. Familiarity with digital scoring and reporting platforms (e.g., Q-global, PARiConnect, WPS, MHS). Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple assessments and tasks independently. Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating emotional intelligence, respectful dialogue, and effective conflict resolution skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey findings clearly and professionally to diverse audiences. Commitment to family-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practice, with a strong work ethic and dedication to high-quality care.
Experience in pediatric healthcare or child development settings. Experience supporting neurodivergent children with attention, intellectual, and/or behavioral challenges. Familiarity with administering psychological assessments digitally via Q-interactive. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and clinical databases. Demonstrated adaptability and a collaborative approach to team-based care.
