Reporting to the Site Assistant Health Services Manager at the Calgary Correctional Centre, this position offers a unique and meaningful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals within the justice system. As a Psychologist, you will work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, providing care to both youth and adult populations in a secure environment. In this dynamic role, you will conduct psychological screenings and intake assessments, deliver specialized and evidence-based interventions and treatments, and complete comprehensive psychological evaluations in areas such as cognitive functioning, personality, behavioural issues, and risk assessment. You will collaborate closely with both the health services and correctional teams to ensure integrated care planning. The clients you serve may present with significant mental health concerns, including acute psychiatric conditions, chronic disorders, criminal behaviours, suicidal ideation, and aggressive or violent tendencies. This role requires a high degree of clinical skill, emotional resilience, and the ability to work effectively within a secure and structured environment. As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Training or education specific to Forensic Psychology and the addiction and mental health needs of offenders. Enhanced security screening is required. Fully registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Specialized expertise in assessment and therapy with concurrent disorders. Knowledge of the criminal justice system is required. Understanding of correctional facilities and population served. Ability to balance numerous demands and complex issues with conflicting priorities. Works as a member of an inter-disciplinary team to effectively contribute to client care planning, delivery processes and enhancement of treatment effectiveness. Uses critical thinking skills and sound judgment within a secure environment.

Corrections experience preferred. Knowledge of community resources and assets.
