Description
The Procurement Specialist III is a professional position in the Contracting, Procurement and Supply Management (CPSM) Department. This position is responsible for coordinating activities relating to the competitive bidding process, sourcing strategy, negotiations, preparing contract documents, assisting with contract implementation and assisting with contract management. This Procurement Specialist III position will join the team accountable for Clinical Sourcing. The Procurement Specialist III entails strategic negotiations, managing and administering various types of agreements, develop collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and/or external stakeholders, assess the needs with AHS and identify emerging issues. This important role requires a strong working knowledge of healthcare, implementation strategies, attention to details, ability to prioritize among multiple initiatives and timelines. The Procurement Specialist III works independently but is supported by a team of other Procurement Specialist III, Sourcing Category Leads and Management. This position can be located anywhere within Alberta.
As a Procurement Specialist III, you will showcase your excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and external vendors. You will develop new contracts and contract amendments that create value and mitigate risk to AHS. You will be responsible for coordinating all activities related to the competitive bidding process including RFx evaluations preparing contract documents, assisting with contract implementations and managing contracts within their assigned categories in compliance with AHS procurement processes, policies and guidelines.
Completion of post-secondary degree in Business or Supply Management.
Proven experience in project coordination, contract development, contract management, and both quantitative and qualitative analytics. Strong problem-solving and business negotiation skills, with the ability to think and act strategically using sound business judgment. Detail-Oriented: Must be meticulous and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including management, program administrators, clinical staff, vendors, and external partners. Organizational Abilities: Strong emphasis on prioritizing tasks, researching information, and providing fact-based recommendations. Ability to produce well-designed, professionally presented documents (e.g., spreadsheets, reports, contracts) and effectively communicate complex information. Experience in facilitation/coordination of project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Must be detailed oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be self-lead and self-motivated. Must be able to work independently and with a group.
Public procurement experience in leading competitive processes from initiation of request to final execution of contract is an asset in this position. Completion of post-secondary degree and/or related experience will be considered.
