Description
Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is an Acute Care hospital with over 1,100 beds. It is the Trauma Centre for Southern Alberta, Eastern British Columbia and Western Saskatchewan. FMC has a Neuro Tertiary Unit as well as the majority of In-Patient Neurological services in Calgary. This is the Neuro PT CL position supporting both the acute and tertiary neuro rehab teams with the potential for clinical coverage on any unit/service as required. The caseload for all positions within the Allied Health department may be subject to change based on operational considerations. This position is physically demanding and requires repetitive lifting and transferring of patients and/or equipment. As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision to students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will make day-to-day clinical decisions regarding patient and family needs related to assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and provide guidance to team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and aligned with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, codes of ethics, and organizational policies and guidelines. You will coordinate the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitor care delivery, identify service needs, assist with caseload management, complete chart audits, and provide follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and represent the department on committees and programs. You will make decisions regarding staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. You will have access to experienced clinicians across the province for consultation and support through email, telephone and virtual meetings. You will also be able to collaborate with senior clinicians through shared electronic health records to support the delivery of high quality care.
Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program; or a bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta CPTA).
Minimum of 3 years clinical experience required. Experience within the last 2 years supervising and/or leading Allied Health staff required. Experience within the last year providing clinical interventions to patients in an acute care setting required. BLS for Health Care Providers Level C CPR certification issued within the last 12 months prior to commencement of employment.
Minimum of 5 years clinical experience preferred. Acute and Tertiary Neuro front line PT experience preferred. Experience successfully leading change management initiatives in a health care setting is preferred. Experience in quality improvement initiatives, project management with a background in participating on zone- and province-wide committees. Experience in supporting employee performance development.
