Description
RGH is a metropolitan hospital with over 650 inpatient beds. RGH AH dept works collaboratively with all clinical teams: ED, ICU/CCU, Med/Surg Units, Transition & Acute Geriatric Units, Orthopaedics, & MH. Our team provides excellent patient & family-centred care in a collaborative, innovative & supportive workplace. We are looking for clinicians who are ideal team players, showing humility & vulnerability, ready to learn from others, contributing to the healthy growth & development of the OT team (and the Dept), by engaging in difficult conversations & being able to give/receive feedback while maintaining professionalism & working relationships. The clinician would demonstrate an intrinsic work ethic, never settling for the minimum required. Self-motivated, proactive, & dedicated to the team’s success. Operating under a Primary Therapist model & working in conjunction with an OT, this role involves assessing, treating, & discharging pts. This position’s work hrs are unique: we are looking for ½ day a.m. coverage, Mon - Fri. Job duties will be varied & will require a range of PT skills, with a focus on facilitating early morning discharges. The environment can be challenging & fast-paced, so we are looking for a clinician who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills & an ability to work cohesively in an inter-disciplinary setting. You will show initiative & be effective in time mgmt. You will also be a critical thinker working autonomously & demonstrate good team player qualities of compassion, easily getting along with your peers. This position is physically demanding & requires repetitive lifting & transferring of patients & equipment. Caseloads for all positions within AH may be subject to change based on operational needs.
As a Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimal physical function and independence in the context of development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness, and functional decline. You will provide interventions, including prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral, and transition support, to individuals, groups, populations, and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the healthcare team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. You will collaborate with patients and families to determine, implement, and evaluate appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enhance supports, and engage in quality improvement, partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance services for clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and the professional community, participate in peer mentoring, and supervise students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides, and Provisional Physiotherapists.
Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Current (BCLS-HCP) required. Experience working as a Physiotherapist in urban adult Acute Care within the last five years.
1+ years of experience in adult urban acute care, within the last five years. Experience as a PT at Rockyview General Hospital. Experience working in medical-surgical units. Experience working on transition and geriatric specialty units. Experience in Wound Care. Experience working with geriatric populations. Surgical/orthopaedic experience.
