We are looking for a dedicated physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary outpatient team in the Urogynecology and Chronic Pelvic Pain programs. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with an expert group of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, a pharmacist, dietitian, and exercise therapist, all committed to advancing pelvic health care. You will play a key role in supporting women of diverse ages and backgrounds who are experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction and chronic pelvic pain. WHAT YOU’LL DO: In this specialized and sensitive area of care, you will provide comprehensive pelvic health assessments, consultation, and treatment. Your responsibilities will include conducting internal assessments, delivering hands-on therapy, and creating individualized exercise and education plans. You’ll integrate pain science principles into your approach, delivering compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s needs. As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.
Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Registered with CPTA for Restricted Activity of Internal Exams. Current Heart & Stroke BLS-HCP certification. Minimum 2 years’ experience in assessing and treating urogynecological conditions, including internal exams. Completion of “Intro to Pelvic Health Level 1” (Parts 1 & 2) or equivalent.
Level 2 Lower Extremity Orthopedics or equivalent courses for spine and lower extremity manual therapy and/or equivalent chronic pelvic pain courses are preferred; OR must be completed within first year of employment. Licensed in Acupuncture or IMS is an asset.
