Description
The Alberta Children's Hospital is a warm and vibrant workplace, with team members providing service to children and their families in inpatient units and ambulatory clinics. The Physiotherapist I - Inpatients, as part of the ACH site-wide PT Services, ensures the level of clinical practice on the assigned clinical service area is family/client-centered and meets PT clinical standards of practice. This position currently provides primary support to the inpatient units at ACH. The PT may be required to support other program components and/or work with other population ages and groups based on identified need within the site including outpatient ambulatory areas. As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team; will exhibit excellent clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills including analytical thinking and conflict resolution/negotiation; will be organized in managing a large and complex caseload; will demonstrate initiative, adaptability and flexibility to meet varying clinical and operational needs; and will demonstrate effective interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Supervision of the clinical practice of students and assistants is required. Participation on program/clinic committees is expected. You will receive guidance, mentoring, & leadership appropriate to your level of experience. As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.
Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Minimum one to three (1-3) years of relevant, related clinical experience in an inpatient tertiary setting. Recent, within the last one to five (1-5) years, experience working in pediatrics. Knowledge of tertiary acute and rehabilitation service delivery. Knowledge of pediatric community resources. BCLS-HCP certification.
AADL authorization required for some services.
