Here at ACH we offer a variety of Pharmacy Inpatient Services include our Oncology Satellite Pharmacy, Day Medicine, Rotary Flames House, and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) onsite and offsite and at the Foothills Medical Center. Our Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively with the health care team performing moderately complex duties; such as clinical supporting roles, full scope of practice, and responsibilities related to all aspects of drug distribution. Under limited supervision of the Operations Manager and in collaboration with the Zonal and Provincial safety teams, performs moderately complex duties and responsibilities related to all aspects of medication safety and inventory, to provide for the effective daily operation and maintenance of all medications and programs leading to pharmaceutical care. As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.
Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Required to compound sterile and non-sterile preparations (including hazardous) and work with arms extended for sustained periods of time. It is a requirement to be able to work with chemotherapy and/or hazardous drugs, work at our NICU Satellite at FMC, Rotary Flames House, Oncology Satellite and able to work all shifts including on-call duty (2245-0700). Required to lift from 30-50 pounds, bending repetitively, push/pull carts. Repetitive wrist and hand movement required. Must be able to withstand long periods of sitting, standing and walking. Must have excellent organizational, problem-solving and decision-making ability. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate an excellent customer service attitude. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and part of a team.
Preference given to individuals with recent pediatric and/or oncology experience along with current chemotherapy IV certification status. Willow Ambulatory (WAM) experience will be viewed as an asset. Investigational and Special Access Drugs knowledge. Experience in a Clinical Deployed Technician role. Prior experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
