Alberta Health Services is seeking someone like you to join our dedicated team at Red Deer Regional Hospital. As a pharmacist, you will collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to manage medication therapy, ensuring safe, effective, and appropriate use. You’ll assess patients for drug-related concerns, develop and contribute to comprehensive medication management plans, and optimize treatment outcomes. In this hospital-based role, you’ll participate in patient care rounds, work closely with healthcare teams, and develop relationships with patients and families to create medication plans. Your duties include assessing and verifying medication orders, checking prepared medications (oral, parenteral, chemotherapeutic, topical), and coordinating special access or study medications. You will mentor new staff through training and orientation, precept students, and provide supervision to pharmacy assistants and technicians. The ideal candidate can efficiently use computer medication order entry systems and drug information resources. You’ll work professionally with diverse teams while maintaining patient confidentiality. Required skills include critical thinking, problem-solving, and customer service with a positive, empathetic approach. Strong time management and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks are essential. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is necessary. Personal and professional accountability is expected. As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Additional Prescribing Authorization (or obtained within 1 year).

Completion of an accredited hospital residency and/or post-baccalaureate Pharm D program. Membership in professional hospital pharmacy organization. Prior hospital experience or active in a direct patient care role. Ability to work effectively both in a team environment as well as independently, demonstrating accountability and the ability maintain collaborative and respectful relationships. Demonstration of ability to learn and grow in response to personal reflection and external feedback.
