The Innisfail Hospital is a busy site that includes 28 acute care beds primarily focused on rural general medicine, surgical and ophthalmic OR, an emergency department, and a 78 bed continuing care. Innisfail Hospital provides a supportive, interdisciplinary environment for pharmacists, where they provide specialized and general medicine care to patients. This is a temporary full time position located as part of the Innisfail Hospital pharmacy team. Pharmacists also provide remote support coverage to other rural sites in Central Zone when needed and precept pharmacy learners as part of this position. The Central Zone South Pharmacy team is bolstered by a dedicated group of pharmacy technicians and assistants working towards their full scope of practice. As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP). Successful candidates not having APA will be expected to obtain it within 6 months of commencing in this position. Pharmacy related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services. Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. Experience with computerized medication order entry, and different drug distribution systems such as unit dose.
Demonstrated self-directed learning and continuing education. Demonstrated good time management including ability to switch priorities and multitask. Demonstrated excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills.
