Join our pharmacy team in beautiful Smoky Lake! Smoky Lake is located 115 km northeast of Edmonton. The area is home to an active community with lots to offer with multiple recreation facilities, numerous lakes and campgrounds nearby. Rural Alberta is beautiful, peaceful, and provides a great backdrop for a fulfilling career. As a member of the Alberta Health Services Pharmacy Services team, the Pharmacist I will provide high quality direct patient care for acute care and LTC beds as well as consultative care for patients in the emergency department. The Pharmacist I supports drug distribution functions with the technician and/or assistant team at the site. The pharmacist will also: actively participate in interdisciplinary patient care teams and rounds; collaborate with patients, physicians and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care; utilize Additional Prescribing Authorization to optimize patient medication regimens; optimize therapy for acute and chronic disease management; empower patients in managing their medical conditions through promotion of healthy lifestyle choices, education and direct patient care; facilitate smooth transitions between care settings; actively participate in professional practice development and growth with support from dedicated Clinical Practice Leaders and pharmacy managers. As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Licensed to practice pharmacy within Alberta; have Additional Prescribing Authority (APA); have a Prac ID for lab ordering; and preferably have recent direct patient care experience (at least 1 year within the last 3 years).

Recent Rural Hospital experience working with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work effectively both in a team environment as well as independently. Ability to use evidence-based medicine in direct patient care. Demonstrates computer literacy skills, good time management, capable of making decisions, working independently & cooperatively in team environments.
