Description
The Rural Float Pharmacist performs the duties outlined below but is expected to work at the multiple Calgary Zone Rural Sites as the need arises to cover any unforeseen absences, working a minimum of 0.5 FTE. The Pharmacist will help support the provision of Pharmaceutical Services and Drug Distributions functions for Inpatients. The position will require active participation on multidisciplinary patient care teams, working with other health care professionals and the provision of drug information to Pharmacy, Nursing, medicine, and other multidisciplinary team members. This position encompasses supervisory functions, committee & project work and teaching of staff and students. PLEASE NOTE: This position is located outside the Calgary City Limits and will cover the Calgary Zone Rural sites, including Canmore, Claresholm (CCMHA, CGH), Didsbury, High River, Black Diamond, Strathmore, and Vulcan. A vehicle is required as multi-site travel is expected.
As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Advanced Prescribing Authority (APA) Practice to expanded scope. Prac ID for lab ordering. Recent direct patient care experience (at least 1 year within the last 3 years).
Hospital experience working w/ multidisciplinary teams. 2-4 years clinical experience in specialized program. Rural Hospital Practice experience. IV/Chemotherapy experience. Project/committee participation, supervisory & staff training an asset. Authorized to administer injection. Able to use evidence-based medicine in direct patient care. Connect Care & Window based computer program experience. Good time management skills, capable of making decisions, working independently & in team settings.
