As the Nursing Care Manager, you will be providing leadership to a team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing leading care to Albertans. In this leadership position, you will be making key decisions and establishing and contributing to the achievements and goals of the Emergency, Acute Care and Long Term Care programs as well as accountable for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, community engagement, facilitating change management, promoting team development, teamwork and coordinating staffing and clinical work as identified by the Site Manager. You will be developing and maintaining an effective framework for patient services to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective, and safe patient care. These activities may include providing day-to-day direction to the staff working on the unit, daily assignment of patients, staff scheduling, interdisciplinary rounds, identifying and attempting to resolve patient, family, and staff concerns, and participating in patient flow, discussions and planning. In addition, you will be implementing and monitoring your portfolio’s budget while undertaking risk management, quality assurance and utilization activities. Your leadership, direction and organization of the programs will be in support of the AHS vision, mission, and business plan.
Active registration and practice permit with the applicable governing body along with a minimum of five years of nursing experience in Emergency and/or Acute Care. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Demonstrated experience in a leadership role (Charge Nurse, Nurse Educator, Professional Practice Lead, etc.).
As Required.
Long Term Care nursing experience an asset. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) an asset. Demonstrated experience in a leadership role (Charge Nurse, Nurse Educator, Professional Practice Lead, etc.). Two years of management experience within a unionized environment preferred.
