Description
A full-time Post Partum Nurse Practitioner (NP) is being sought to add to our multidisciplinary team of care providers at the Peter Lougheed Centre. Reporting to Executive Director of Women’s Health, the NP functions as part of a multidisciplinary team working closely with obstetrical care providers and low-risk obstetrics/family medicine designates to provide patients with day-to-day care, planning, and interventions. The NP role may also include duties within other Women’s Health programs and services. The NP is an advanced practice nurse (APN) who integrates clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. With graduate level education, NPs contribute to collaborative inter-professional care through the advanced practice nursing competencies of advanced clinical practice, education, nursing leadership, and research. NPs have a broad and autonomous scope of practice with the ability to provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. The NP may have specialized competencies. Per regulatory requirements, the NP is required to assess their practice to support individual competency and professional growth.
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Post Partum and NP experience is an asset, but not necessary for application. A keen, self-learner willing to work as a member of the post partum team. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Strong team player with the proven ability to manage difficult situations. Strong computer skills. Participate in and maintain additional education and/or certifications specific to area of practice.
Active practice as an NP in a relevant acute care clinical setting during the past two years. Previous NP experience in a Women’s Health setting. 3-5 years of experience in a Women’s Health setting as an RN. Connect Care (Epic) and MS Office Suite knowledge. Experience in quality improvement and/or quality improvement certification an asset.
