Description
If you are a Nurse Practitioner (NNP) who is looking to practice within a large urban hospital with a small community atmosphere, Alberta Health Services (AHS) has an exciting opportunity for you! You will be working as part of the Orthopedic Surgical Services team that practices within a dynamic interdisciplinary healthcare team at South Health Campus Hospital. We are looking for applicants who have effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as work collaboratively with patients and families as partners in care. This position will work collaboratively with the orthopedic hospitalist and orthopedic surgeons to manage inpatient issues involving the elective surgery population (mostly arthroplasty patients) and acute trauma patients (mostly elderly hip fractures with multiple comorbidities).
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

NP’s with hospital/acute care experience preferred. 3-5 years' experience in a surgical setting as an RN preferred. Background in orthopaedic surgery an asset. CNA Orthopedic Nursing Certification preferred. ACLS certification preferred. Experience working in Connect Care in a prescriber role. Quality improvement knowledge and training an asset.
