Description
Reporting to the Medical Lead of Cardiology, this position functions as a central member of the multidisciplinary team, working closely with the Cardiologists and other health care providers in all areas of the hospital where inpatient and outpatient cardiology services are provided. As a regulated member of the health care team (CRNA), the NP: Is authorized and competent to perform comprehensive assessment, diagnosis (including the ordering and interpretation of tests), intervention (including the prescribing of medications), management (including performing specific non-invasive/invasive procedures and therapeutic interventions), referral, and evaluation of client care across the continuum of health care services. Utilizes critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills to provide care with a focus on medical cardiology to patients who present with acute medical illness for medical assessment, care, and treatment. Provides directed, autonomous, comprehensive, holistic care to the medical cardiology population. Contributes to the program and patient care through advanced clinical practice, leadership, consultations, referrals, education, and research. Provides leadership and actively participates in quality improvement, program development and evaluation, research, and clinical teaching activities. Creates opportunities for team members and other healthcare providers to optimize knowledge, evidence-informed practice, clinical skills, and overall patient care. Participates in interdisciplinary collaboration in the practice setting to ensure consistency for drug prescribing and distribution in accordance with provincial guidelines.
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Connect Care and MS Office Suite knowledge. Experience in a wide range of cardiac assessment, treatment and therapeutic interventions, health promotion, diagnostic procedures, and follow-up care.
