Make a difference in the lives of Albertans and work with a passionate team as the Nurse Clinician at the Southern Alberta Clinic (HIV Program). Reporting to the leadership of the Southern Alberta Clinic (SAC) you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working to provide care to the HIV positive population of Southern Alberta. The Nurse Clinician acts as a clinic resource and role model, providing leadership and support to all team members in addition to providing excellent patient care. The Nurse Clinician is self-directed and is responsible for the coordination of the multidisciplinary team in the provision of quality patient care. The Nurse Clinician uses an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. In conjunction with clinic leadership, help identify areas for improvement and develop innovative solutions. As a member of the nursing team, the Nurse Clinician supports and engages in patient care by reviewing lab work, conducting health assessments, intake of new patients and follow-up for all other patients, providing education, collaborating with other AHS and non-AHS stakeholders, and immunization administration. Case management of a selected group of patients may also be required. Patients have a wide variety of psychosocial and medical complexity and require a non- judgmental approach. As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Minimum 7 years nursing experience with a minimum of two years in a community-based program. Minimum 3 years charge nurse or nurse clinician experience. Minimum 3 years recent immunization experience, specifically for immunocompromised adults. Experience providing education & direction to other health care providers. Experience in a multidisciplinary team. Experience providing care to persons living with HIV/AIDS. Advanced knowledge of HIV care preferred. Proficient computer usage in Word, Excel, SharePoint, Adobe with minimum typing speed of 45 wpm. In-depth understanding of Connect Care. Demonstrated experience in change management, quality improvement initiatives, leadership & conflict management. Ability to quickly develop rapport, have compassion & understanding for persons living with HIV, understanding of stigma and a non-judgmental approach. Experience providing care, establishing rapport, & conducting assessments by telephone/virtual & in person. Ability to work & make decisions independently within scope. Competent in responding to emergency situations as may be the only RN scheduled. Ability to perform physical requirements of job including standing, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, walking, lifting 10-15lbs, sitting and working at various workstations.

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing. Demonstrated flexibility within a complex & changing environment which may involve working with clients with addictions, mental health concerns and those that have been or are incarcerated. Experience in trauma informed care, social drivers of health, cultural sensitivity, gender diversity, Indigenous health. Excellent patient relations skills & an ability to de-escalate patients. Experience working with patients with homicidal or suicidal ideation.
