These pillars guide the development and delivery of service to all patients and families at SHC. All staff employed at SHC are called to embody these pillars in their work performance. The Cardiology specialty Clinics within SHC are currently recruiting for a temporary full time Nurse Clinician (NC). Reporting to the Unit Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinics, the Nurse Clinician is responsible for coordinating the collaboration of the multidisciplinary team of health care providers to provide the necessary investigations, care and treatment of patients and families referred to cardiac specialty clinics. The NC triages and assesses the appropriateness of referrals to the clinic, orders and reviews tests and clinical investigations under the direction of clinical algorithms and physician guidance. The Nurse Clinician facilitates patient clinical visits during which they provide health teaching and counselling and follow up care as required. The Nurse Clinician also provides support for both patients and their families. The assignment for the nurse clinician is currently for the Valve, Bi-Cuspid Valve and CAP Clinics though this could change at any time. The Nurse Clinician acts as a role model for the department and sets the tone for a positive work environment to enhance interpersonal relationships and team effectiveness. The incumbent assists in the development and implementation of policies, quality improvement programs, departmental procedures and best practice. They will also work closely with our leadership, physician teams and front-line staff at the Foothills Medical Center.

As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 5 years recent experience equivalent to (0.5 FTE) in acute care or critical care cardiology required. Demonstrated commitment to professional development required. Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills required. Able to work independently or collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary health care team. Advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills required. Current certification in IV Initiation, Basic Cardiac Dysrhythmia Interpretation, IV medication administration. Ability to sit for long hours and also during clinic days stand for long hours and multitask.

Recent experience in a CCU, CVICU or cath lab environment. CNA Cardiology Certification an asset. Experience with family centered and collaborative practice approach and philosophy preferred. Previous Nurse Clinician experience. Recent experience with Connect Care and NetCare.
