Working under the general direction of the Unit Manager for Cardiac Cath Lab, the Medical Radiation Technologist III (MRT III) is responsible for the supervision and organization of the MRT staff within the Cardiac catheterization labs, Electrophysiology labs, and Cardiac Device Implants. This role requires expertise and strong troubleshooting skills with the Phillips x-ray system, OCT, IVUS, Ultrasound, Impax, ISCV, PEI and connectivity between systems. Clear and detailed written and verbal communication is paramount. The MRT III is responsible for radiation safety tracking and education for the multidisciplinary teams. They will collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Educator to support ongoing education and career development for the team. In addition to their supervisory role the MRT III is involved in direct patient care and support. Their role is to circulate and assist during Cardiac procedures. They are responsible for the complex device implant cases in the operating rooms. The position involves utilization of portable and fixed imaging equipment with emphasis on specialized cardiovascular software platforms. As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) III, you will be responsible for the operational supervision of a staff team and work processes of a radiology department or program/function. You will act as the lead Clinical Preceptor for MRT students and primary liaison to the area Radiologist. Your work can include establishing and maintaining adequate levels of supplies and materials for the department and administering quality control assurance programs.

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Minimum 3 years experience working in Cardiac Cath Lab setting required. Strong Understanding Connect Care workflows and ability to troubleshoot. Completion of a recognized program in Medical Radiation Technology. Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists. This MRT position includes the following physical requirements: being on one's feet for extended periods of time (including walking/standing and wearing lead), exposure to infectious diseases, and hazardous situations for which they are trained; be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients; be able to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.
