Description
The MRT Clinical Education Team is looking for a highly motivated, confident and enthusiastic technologist with a positive attitude to join our team. As a Clinical Educator you will be responsible for providing training, leadership and guidance to MRT students in the clinical environment, as well as providing education to our staff. In collaboration with the Education Coordinator and NAIT representatives, you will support student education and contribute positively to the overall student clinical experience. You will liaise with technological and management staff at the sites to facilitate a collaborative learning environment. In addition, you will plan, implement and/or support preceptor training and staff education activities. This role supports the MRT program, which also incorporates entry level Computed Tomography. Experience in CT, or CT courses will be considered an asset. This position is based out of the Royal Alexandra Hospital, with the expectation to be able to travel to community sites to support as well.
As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) II, you will perform specialized technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You may perform specialized diagnostic imaging procedures for Physician/Radiologist review, interpret physician requisitions and assist with the care and maintenance of imaging equipment.
Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum of 5 years as a technologist. Understanding of the CAMRT competency profile and NAIT MRT program. Understands and adheres to the AHS DI provincial positioning & protocol manual. Working knowledge of Connect Care, RIS, HIS, PACS, CR & DR. Demonstrated proficient organizational, technical, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills. Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility, and work effectively independently and within a team environment. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Demonstrated ability to effectively teach, coach and mentor others. Demonstrated ability to foster relationships, liaise and collaborate. Demonstrated ability in the use of tact, courtesy and professionalism with patients, students, staff and physicians. Demonstrated ability in critical thinking, problem solving and decision making. Demonstrated utilization of strong judgment by analyzing facts, considering the impact, and arriving at a sound conclusion, seeking counsel when appropriate. Demonstrated strong, adaptive communication skills utilizing a variety of modalities (verbal, written, active listening). Demonstrated ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities within a busy environment.
Supervisory and/or leadership training. Experience precepting students. CT experience or CT courses an asset.
