Lacombe is a city with easy access to Red Deer, Edmonton and Calgary. The Lacombe Hospital provides a range of health services including a 24/7 emergency department. This Medical Radiation Technologist II position is open to CLXT and MRT staff, but it is a DI only position. Working within a team environment the Medical Radiation Technologist II is responsible for overall DI functions at the site which include but are not limited to: Organizing/coordinating resources and supervising a team of CLXT’s, MRT's and a Sonographer to assure quality operations. Ensuring the performance of high-quality tests and images. Monitoring daily processes and taking appropriate preventative or corrective action when required. Accurate completion of RIS/PACS functions. Quality monitoring and review of all DI processes conducted on site. Technical troubleshooting. Ordering and maintenance of supplies inventory. Reviewing/monitoring financial, personnel and statistical reports. Implementing site-based procedures. Liaise with other hospital departments, personnel and physicians. Ensuring compliance with radiation safety policies and ensuring safe work practices are followed. Investigation of safety incidents and concerns. Development and ongoing maintenance of staff schedules and occasional rotation re-design following program changes, as well as time approval. Be involved in staff recruitment. Complete annual performance appraisals with staff. Coordinate the education and orientation of staff and students. Schedule and lead regular staff meetings, action outcomes of the meeting and post minutes for staff. Fiscal management of all resources. Use of many software applications including Connect Care, e-People recruitment management system, i-Expense, Microsoft Word, Excel, My Safety Net and SharePoint.

As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) II, you will perform specialized technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You may perform specialized diagnostic imaging procedures for Physician/Radiologist review, interpret physician requisitions and assist with the care and maintenance of imaging equipment.

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

The ability to effectively communicate in English. Minimum of 5 years full time diagnostic imaging experience. Proven success performing administrative/supervisory functions in a diagnostic setting. Demonstrated desire and actions to further own knowledge relating to profession. Training and/or demonstrated experience related to quality improvement, conflict resolution and customer service. Extensive experience in use of computer systems, software applications. Experience in performing incident investigations and implementing corrective actions. Experience with accreditation standards, implementation and addressing deficiencies. Demonstrated experience and or knowledge of DI safety practices. Ability to give and receive constructive feedback. Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, direct work assignments, and adapt to stressful situations using tact and diplomacy. Ability to influence others through well-developed oral and written communications. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures. Receptive to new ideas and change. Good working knowledge of the HSAA collective agreements. Ability to work independently, and within a team, effectively managing his/her time and setting priorities when faced with multiple tasks and deadlines over a period of time.
